Windlass - Ashdown Viking Sword
The Ashdown Sword from Windlass Steelcrafts is named for the Battle of Ashdown in which King Aethelred and his younger brother, Alfred the Great of Wessex clashed with the Danish Vikings and dealt a stinging defeat to the Great Heathen Army. This Dark Ages sword has a sharp and well tempered and hand-forged blade forged from 1080 high carbon steel and the hilt has a detailed guard and pommel crafted from steel which are blackened and antiqued for an aged appearance. The wooden grip is wrapped in supple stitched leather and a large and encompassing peen over the pommel securely mounts the sword into the hilt.
Included with the sword is a scabbard that is made from thick leather and tipped with an antiqued steel chape. Interwoven and integrated with the scabbard is a thick sword belt to make the sword and scabbard ready for wear.
