Overview

Windlass - Roman General's Sword

The Roman General's Sword by Windlass Steelcrafts appears very similar to the sword used by Maximus in Gladiator (2000) when he was a Roman general. The long blade of this Gladius sword is forged from well-tempered 1075 high carbon steel which is sharpened. The blade is wide and long right up to the tip, ensuring that the sword will cut powerfully and chop and hack with great ability. The hilt has a guard and pommel of wood polished smooth and lacquered to a high gloss sheen. The grip is faux ivory and the hilt is lavishly embellished in cast brass plating and ornamentation.

The sword comes with a wood-core scabbard which is overlaid in deep red leather and like the hilt is full of brass detailing to match the sword. Included is a sword baldric for wear that can be attached to the scabbard.

Gorgeous sword. Bought this as show piece/wall hanger for my theater room under the Gladiator poster and it did not disappoint. Very sharp and fairly easy to handle.
