A classic design of Frankish Carolingian origin, the lugged spear was widely used by Viking and early medieval warriors. The sharply tapered design with its raised central ridge gives it powerful penetrative potential with little force lost to flex due to the stiffening central ridge. The winged lugs on its side not only prevented over-penetration in a strike, but could also have been used to parry or push other weapons as circumstances allowed in the mass melee of the shieldwall.

This reproduction has been forged from high carbon steel and it is ready to be mounted atop your own wooden haft. Two pre-drilled holes allow for it to be secured into position once it is mounted onto a haft which has been tapered to fit. Screws and additional mounting hardware are not included.

Solid spear head…bought it a while back and just now mounted it on an ash pole. Sharpens up well and looks great.

this spearhead looks nice and fairly cheap. one minor issue the wings on the spear are slightly off and not completely aligned besides that it’s very good! if you do look for a pole for the spear go to a Loewe’s or Home Depot they are much cheaper.

Like the other review state this is a very misaligned piece, the wings and the blade aren’t aligned but that’s not the worst, the blade has a spoon shape because of how crooked the one I got is, I suspect it happenned during the heat treating if there was one and they didn’t even bother to try and straighten it back. I contacted Kult of Athena’s support and never got an answer so ill be firing up my forge and ill have to straighten it myself. Overall it’s a very low quality spearhead, the central ridge is so small I doubt it would prevent it from bending if I ever hit something hard with it, and they dare call that battle ready.

Conclusion: don’t buy that crap, it’s low quality and Kult of Athena will give you the silent treatment if you try to complain that you got a crappy product. If I was the one who made that spear head i would be embarassed to sell such a crooked and misaligned weapon.
