1805 Pattern Royal Navy Officer’s Sword – Universal Swords

(1 customer review)

$162.00$244.00

This was the first regulation sword issued by the Royal Navy – the 1805 pattern Naval Officers sword. A descendent of the 1803 Infantry Officer Saber, the blade was altered from curved to straight.

Lord Nelson himself wielded such a sword and it was at his side when he was felled at Trafalgar. It followed him back to England and is currently on display at the Nelson Museum.

This 1805 Royal Navy Officers Sword has a blade of unsharpened, tempered high carbon steel. The guard, backplate and pommel are brass. The grip is of faux ivory with inlaid brass wire. It comes with a leather scabbard with brass accents and brass hanging rings.
