I have mixed feelings about this canteen and was torn between 3 and 4. I believe with some extra work and care, this is a serviceable and unique canteen. I absolutely love how cool and sturdy it is. The cap is moderately leak resistant and holds tight as long as you’re careful; I could hold it upside down and it would leak a little and with effort, I could get the cap to fall off. If you’re not careless, the cap will hold a respectable seal for bare metal on metal.
As an important detail of these canteens is the distinct taste of beeswax. I now very seriously enjoy the taste of bee water. It feels so real drinking from something lined with beeswax.
My main complaint is how little beeswax is used to line the inside. Mine immediately rusted to the point it was useless to drink after a few uses. It’s now decoration until I can strip and recoat the inside. If you buy this, I strongly recommend that you buy some beeswax cubes and thicken that inner lining to prevent corrosion.
