Greater Polish Army Officer's Saber - Universal Swords
This finely crafted replica is modeled after a historic original saber belonging to a military officer of the Greater Polish Army - a Polish military force of Citizens and People's Guard units formed during the Greater Poland Uprising. This heroic revolt against the German Empire in 1918 made great strides to secure Poland's independence after WW1. After WW1 the Greater Polish Army units would be incorporated into the newly formed Polish Army. This gorgeous sword is based on the Prussian 1889 Infantry Officer's sword and scabbard modified with the addition of Polish patriotic elements. The blade bears the marker's mark monogram of W.K.&C Weyersburg, Kirchbaum and Co - a blade maker operating in Solingen from 1883.
The blade is forged from tempered high carbon steel and features makers marks on the base of the blade to match cutler's manufacturer markings on the underside of one of the quillons. The exntensive hilt is finely crafted from high quality, solid brass and its grip of wood is tightly bound in high quality leather and completed with inlaid braided brass wire. Included is a scabbard of steel with a pair of steel hanging rings for wear.
