Albion The Viceroy Sword

This sword is largely a combination between two swords - the blade is larger scale of a single handed sword that is at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, England. The hilt is inspired by a war sword of the Landesmuseum, Zich. The blade is both strong and lightweight - it keeps total mass down by being hollow ground in profile and by having a fuller down its center. A broad base imparts strength to the blade. The crossguard quillons are hexagonal in profile.

War swords of this general outline, broad at the base, with gently curving edges toward a pronounced point, have some handling characteristics in common. They are cut and thrust sword, and thus need both authority in the cut and an agile and precise point control. The width of the blade at the cutting section allows for aggressive cutting performance. The narrow and strong point keeps the mass down in the outer part of the blade, which results in a lively and responsive character. It emanates both refinement and ruthless power; a sword as such those owned by the commanders of a battlefields or feudal lords.

The Viceroy has a hand ground high carbon steel blade is tempered for flexibility and edge retention. The crossguard and pommel are cast from mild steel. The grip is cord-wrapped wood fitted over with tight leather.
