BattleBlades – Sanbon-Sugi Shinken Katana

Sanbon-Sugi Shinken from BattleBlades is a remarkably swift and fast-striking katana; the blade has excellent distal taper and a wide deep bohi groove which has given the sword an excellent balance that lends itself to feeling like an extension of the arm. The sharpened blade is forged from 1095 high carbon steel and it has been well-tempered with a genuine clay tempered hamon in the unique Sanbon-Sugi hamon style. A top-level, fine quality blade polish brings out the full beauty of the steel and in particular its hamon line.

The hilt koshirae are finely detailed; its tsuba is of black lacquered steel and its matched fuchi and kashira are of antiqued blackened brass. The highly detailed habaki is brass and these are contrasted with surmounted seppa of copper. The hardwood tsuka grip is fitted with panels of genuine rayskin which is overlaid in premium brown cotton ito. The sword is matched with a vibrant saya scabbard that was crafted with a high level of artisanal craftsmanship. The saya is of carved hardwood which is finished with well-applied layers of deep red lacquer. Its koiguchi, kurikata and kojiri fittings are crafted from well-polished buffalo horn. The scabbard is finished with a thick, knotted sageo cord. Included with the sword is a silk sword bag, extra mekugi grip pegs and a manufacturer's Certificate of Authenticity.
