EGKH - D-Guard Survival Khukuri - 12'' Blade - Ex Gurkha Khukuri House
This vicious looking Khukuri looks like it is ready for scrapping and survival in a Mad Max-esque apocalyptic wasteland. It has a large, wide blade that can hack and chop with the ferocity of an axe. Its burly grip is protected by a knuckle D-guard which double as steel knuckles for close-in, jaw-cracking combat. Its slightly up-turned tip culminates in a sharp point well capable of delivering a decisive thrust - the wide blade ensures that even a shallow thrust wound will be very wide with only a few inches of wound depth.
The blade is of 5160 high carbon steel and has been differentially tempered when heat treated. This heat treatment imparted a hard edge on the blade to keep it from dulling easily, and the blade body and spine is softer to ensure that the blade is not brittle and that it will absorb and distribute shock and force.
The large grip is made from two slabs of carved rosewood riveted to the thick tang for a grip. The D-Guard is of steel. The scabbard is made from carved pinewood and is overlaid with water-buffalo leather. It has an integrated belt loop and a leather retaining loop at the tip. The back of the scabbard has two slots to accommodate the twin companion tools of the Kukri; the karda utility cutting knife and the chakmak blade sharpening tool. They are constructed of high carbon steel and the handles are of rosewood.
