A reproduction of a late Romano-British 5th Century Spatha, the Anglian-Feltwell Spatha is broadly representative of swords in the twilight of the Roman Empire, and such Spatha were common to find in the hands of Roman and barbarian alike in the tumultuous final century of the Western Roman Empire. It is an ideal sword for collectors, as well as Roman and Germanic reenactors and enthusiasts of late antiquity. The blade is well tempered C60 high carbon steel measuring 24″, whilst the sword balances at about 5″ forward of the guard. Its a surprisingly nimble and easy to wield example of these broad-bladed swords thanks to its distal taper and long, broad fuller.

Full of handcrafted detail, the meticulous hilt belies the origin of the finely crafted swords of the migration era with its composite construction of wood, brass plates and a grip of polished bone. Its matched scabbard is crafted with a wood core which is bound in high quality leather and completed with fittings of brass.
