Early 17th Century German Swept-Hilt Rapier - Deepeeka
This Early 17th Century German Rapier has a piercing blade forged from C60 high carbon steel; the blade has a diamond cross section which gives it some stiffness to optimize its thrusting ability.
The swept hilt is crafted from mild steel and the wooden grip is tightly bound in spiralled brass wire interspaced with twisted steel wire. The wood scabbard is overlaid in black leather and fitted with a steel chape and locket.

I wanted 2.5 lbs and POB 3 inch at most Rapier, decently thick and tapered. This met my requirements and while lacking reviews Deepeeka has good reviews on thier other rapiers so I figured with this price it’s worth the risk.
I am very happy with my purchase in general, but for the price I feel clever/victorious: sub $200 , carbon steel, looks pretty good too. It handles like a rapier should (not blade heavy, good point control) and the POB is as listed. BTW props to KOA for listing POB on all swords. I did some moderate testing and it stabs cardboard and plastic fine, no play in the handle, and the wire wrap handle looks cool and grips well. I got the KOA sharpening for $15 and it’s pretty good/worth the cost. I don’t expect swords to come overly sharp, I want a good basic edge and I shapren to my personal preference.
The only neg I found is the seam line that goes down the middle on the blade is not straight, it wavers a bit like a Naga. No biggie, easy to miss. Similarly, there are minor wavy spots on the hand guard welds that are otherwise fine (I.E. not lumpy or too thin). Minor stuff, awesome deal, pick this up because prices are only going up.
As the other review stated, the line isn’t straight, but I have found my blade itself to be non-uniformly wavy, and it isn’t straight. By a few degrees, the blade itself veers upwards (assuming I’m holding the sword correctly).
It still looks beautiful, and the weight and feel of the weapon is grand. It does come with mistakes and such on the guard, but most of those I actually appreciate as it gives it a more hand made feel. The only part I don’t like is the blade, honestly. Still functions as it should, but would seek higher quality assurance in the future.
Just received mine today, considering what I paid for it, quite a good deal. The blade is a little crooked in places, but its not noticeable unless you really look. The gaurd is a little bit wobbly, but that’s just due to how its constructed. Factory edge on the other hand, is hardly an edge, but thats on me for not getting the sharpening added. Overall 4/5 stars, happy with my purchase.
