Overview
Fabri Armorum - Walloon Sword
This classically styled Walloon Sword with its half-basket guard, thumb ring and broadsword blade is a particularly robust example from Fabri Armorum that is built to handle the repetitive hard impacts from reenactment, sport or stage combat. Thick, blunt and well-tempered, the 29 inch blade of 54SiCr6 High Carbon Steel is rounded at the tip and overall rather solid. Unlike many sport or stage combat swords which are entirely utility focused, this example has a great deal of attention paid to making an intricate, detailed and nicely finished hilt that ensures the sword looks attractive and impressive even at close inspection. Its a great sword not just for the reenactor or threatre troupe, but for the individual collector as well.
The half-basket guard and pommel are crafted from solid antique-finished steel and the 4 3/4" grip is wrapped in spiraled black leather to complete the sword. At around 3 lbs weight and with a point of balance at around 3 1/2" inches the sword manages to remain easy to wield for a heavy-duty sport / stage combat blunt.
