Additional information

The Roaring Dragon Chu Jian by LK Chen is modeled after the magnificent double-handed swords used in the ancient Chinese state of Chu 2,200 years ago. Like originals, this recreation of the ‘’Chu Long Sword’’ is an agile sword that strikes with velocity and power. Records cite that it was not only a cutting sword, but that skilled warriors also emphasized the use of the tip and could use it in a spear-like manner at will.

The sharpened and spring-tempered blade is crafted from 1065 and T8 high carbon steel which was folded into a single blade by a skillful bladesmith; it has a final tempered hardness is 55 – 58 HRc. A fine cutting sword, it will slice bamboo and tatami with ease when coupled with good technique.

The guard and pommel are finely cast from brass in the classic Taotie zoomorphic pattern and the circular groove styling on the pommel denotes that the original it is modeled after was a high status weapon for nobility and royalty. The long grip gives plenty of leverage and is made from wood which is bound in tight black cord. The sword is matched with a wooden scabbard which is finished in black lacquer, quality brass fittings and a classic Chu Phoenix design.

Please note: Scabbard may some minor cosmetic blemishes such as scuffs and indentations.

My gosh, it’s terrifyingly pretty. Packing was exceptional. The weapon arrived with no nicks, or scratches. The blade was preserved beautifully, oiled and unblemished.
I wish It was sharper, although I can’t tell if I’m just bad at cutting or the weapon is not sharp enough.
