LK Chen has released a sparring Cup-Hilt Spanish Rapier that was based on the popular LK Chen Tizona rapier and its intended for HEMA practitioners who desire a sparring rapier that has the smooth and easy handling of a sharp rapier, but with blunt edges and a rolled tip for sparring safety. The blade is well tempered spring steel that is tempered to flex to great ability upon impact in the thrust. The solid cup gives maximized protection for the hand and the centerline knucklebar allows for the sword to be equally of use to a right or left handed swordsman.

The hilt is crafted from stainless steel and the wooden grip is bound in stitched faux leather. Included with the rapier is a sheath of stitched faux leather.

Only used it a half dozen times and it develop a set and the cut became loose. I also had to get the blade trimmed down 5 inches to make it usable. As it is, it still weighs a ton.

It looks nice, but there are better rapiers out there.

I ordered this and ended up returning it.

The weld quality of the quillion block to the handle and cup was fairly poor quality. The ricasso and quillion block could have used some more finishing time to smooth items over as they have hot spots that you hand will not like and will quickly start to eat into your leather glove.

I cannot speak to the quality of the blade and its flex. For the cost, there are better options if you can wait.
