Red Dragon – HEMA Red Dragon Fencing Mask

The Red Dragon Armoury Red Dragon Armoury HEMA Fencing mask is crafted from a black steel frame and mesh. It is held in place with a 2-part elastic strap that is held in place with velcro. A thick, bendable tab that is covered in black leather can be bent behind the head to help keep the mask affixed.

For HEMA, this product has been classified as either appropriate for all skill levels or appropriate for those with Advanced Skills. Michael Turner, instructor at Tuathair Academy of Swordmanship, assisted us in categorizing these items for the different skill levels of HEMA participants. These categorizations are meant as guidelines. Please refer to tournament rules for specific competition requirements. For this purpose, we do not include swords that may be used in cutting competitions in the HEMA category.

It has a 2-part padded liner and neck guard. The permanent layer of the padding is riveted to the mask and the removable part that covers it is held in place with velcro strips. The foam interior padding is coated with a layer of stitched red synthetic fabric. Much of the liner can be removed for cleaning from its wide velcro strips. The mask bib is rated at 350 Newtons.
