Roman Scutum - Blank - Deepeeka
This blank Roman Shield Scutum is ready to be painted to match the colors and devices of your Legion. The shield is constructed from poplar wood which is tightly bound in linen and finished with a primer. The wooden grip is horizontal and the shield is rimmed in riveted brass banding. A brass shield boss with mounting hardware is included - this boss is shipped unmounted for ease of painting.
Some assembly is required as you will need to mount the included shield boss (or another of your choice) to the shield. The boss is fitted to the shield with a set of screws with brass caps. Some of the photos show the item as assembled with the shield boss for display purposes only. It is shipped unassembled.
Please Note: it is common for this item to have patination on the brass shield rim and shield boss - it can be cleaned to a bright sheen with polishing paste and scuff pads.
