A bit on the heavier side for rapiers and has a slightly farther balance point than would be desired for a quick riposte. Ideally the rapier is meant for thrusting and this can certainly deliver. Don’t expect cuts to be easy as the sword is long and will put stress on the wrist when the momentum is halted. Overall, this sword is still very elegant to the eyes and with some practice and building of wrist and arm strength, can be effective for its lower price point. I would say a good value to those who don’t want to fork out too much money on their first rapier.

As the other review points out this is a decidedly heavy sword. In the hand it feels like it is the heaviest sword I own and not by a small amount. I do like it despite that. The reason I dropped a star is that, though you can hardly see it in the pictures the ricasso is entirely exposed when the sword is sheathed. I worry that it will mean more frequent oiling needed to keep the blade rust free, otherwise I am quite happy with the sword.

      Great sword but it’s heavy
