The 35.6-inch blade is forged from tough 65 Mn spring steel and heat treated for a combination of hardness, flexibility, and durability. The blade tapers from approximately 6 mm at the base to 2.7 mm near the tip, providing substantial mass and rigidity at the forte while becoming progressively lighter toward the point for improved handling and cutting performance. Weighing 3 lbs 8 oz and balancing 2.25 inches above the guard, the sword has a lively and responsive feel despite its considerable size and it does not feel as heavy as it actually is. The 9.25-inch grip provides ample room for a secure two-handed hold, allowing the wielder to take advantage of the sword’s leverage and long cutting reach.
