This reproduction of the US Air Force Sword has all the details of the ceremonial sword, but unlike most examples available elsewhere it is built to a battle-ready standard with a solid and strong hilt construction matched to a high carbon steel blade instead of brittle stainless seen in most presentation examples. The 31″ long blade is forged from high carbon steel and was then tempered and polished to a final finish. The hilt is finely cast and full of detail from solid white brass for a durable silvered appearance. The under 3 inch grip is bound in twisted matching wire for a beautiful and sure grip – the grip appears short in the specs but when the grippable ferrules of the guard and pommel are included them the part of the hilt that allows for a grip extends past 3 inches. Slim and elegant, the sword clocks in at less than 2 lbs and is a fine piece for display, collection or use.
Included is a strong steel scabbard completed with a chape and locket of matching white brass.
he ceremonial sword of the United States Air Force is a relatively modern military sword, reflecting the service’s more recent origins compared to other U.S. branches. When the Air Force became an independent service in 1947 following the National Security Act of 1947, it initially continued many traditions inherited from the United States Army Air Forces. In 1956 the Air Force officially adopted its own distinctive ceremonial sword pattern for officers, designed primarily for formal occasions such as parades, honor guards, and official ceremonies. The sword’s design features a straight blade and a sleek, modern hilt incorporating Air Force symbols, reflecting the service’s identity as a technologically advanced branch of the U.S. military. Although never intended for combat, the sword serves as an important emblem of authority, tradition, and the heritage of the Air Force
