Overview

US Marine Corps NCO Saber with Steel Scabbard - Universal Swords Standard Grade

Please Note: If sharpening is selected the edge bevel that is ground into the unsharpened blade will remove some of the etching and cut off some of the etched blade design. This should only be chosen when the appearance of the sword and its decorative elements is not considered important vs cutting ability.

This reproduction of the Model 1859 United States Marine Corps NCO Saber has all the intricate details of the iconic Marine officer saber and unlike others is made to a battle-ready standard with robust hilt construction and a high carbon steel blade instead of the decorative stainless steel seen elsewhere. The 28" long blade is hand-forged from high carbon steel which has been tempered and then lavishly etched in the the iconic filigree and scrollwork that has embellished the Marine NCO saber since 1875 regulations. This one also has the modern regulation slim saber blade design that came into effect with the 1918 redesign of the saber. With a total weight well under 2 lbs and a balance at about 5" above the guard the saber is quite responsive in the hand and easy to wield and wear for use dress and ceremony.

The guard and hilt furniture are finely cast from solid brass with a polished finish. The grip is inlaid with twisted brass wire for an elegant, yet practical grip. The sword is matched with an all steel scabbard with steel hanging rings.
