So what is there to say about this? Well it is a well made, simple tool carried by almost EVERYBODY back in the high medieval period. This tool was a part of just about everybody’s kit. It could have been used for eating of course, but it was a much more versatile tool!
Back in medieval times, waste was almost always a capitol offense. Things that we would today just look at as trash or unimportant was back then something of value. Rope and twine for example were costly back then and the thought oh just cutting through a knot was a waste. A pick such as this was very useful in untying a piece of knotted twine or rope, and keeping a length of good twine meant not wasting precious pennies to buy new twine! We need to remember the days when “Waste not, want not” was good advice!
