Cold Steel - Diamond Spontoon Hawk
This diamond-headed Spontoon Hawk has a head purpose-designed for deep piercing and puncturing strikes - though it has little camp utility this type of tomahawk was a fearsome tool of war and self defense. This one has a solid faux-pipe on the reverse which functions as a hammer for delivering crushing blows.
The head of this hawk is of 1055 drop-forged high carbon steel and its haft is crafted from robust American Hickory. The dagger-like blade of the axehead is unsharpened and we can sharpen it in-house for an additional fee.
The axehead features a recessed screw in one side of the socket which can be used to re-seat the axe when it loosens from use. By using an allen key of the right size the screw can be inserted further into the haft to tighten the fitting of the axehead to the haft. Care must be taken not to over-turn the screw however, as pushing it entirely into the wood and past the axehead socket renders this feature entirely useless. For best results the axehead should be moved as high up on the haft as it can go to find a spot with a good and tight fit before securing the axehead with the recessed screw.
