Roman Praetorian Helmet - Deepeeka

This Roman Praetorian Helm is thoroughly (and fittingly!) embellished in embossed detailing and the elite status of its bearer is made all the more apparent with a vibrant plume of scarlet-dyed horsehair. The helmet is crafted from brass and the cheekplates are hinged and are fitted with rings which allow for a cord to be tied to secure and fasten the helmet and cheekplates into position.
The interior of the helmet is entirely lined in tight leather and is fitted with an adjustable internal suspension system which can be used to modify the fit and trim of the helmet as needed.
The crest is shipped unmounted for simpler shipping. It does not come with screws that are needed to assemble the helmet. The screws needed are 3/4 inch by 1/4 inch.

Imperial indeed! This Roman Praetorian Helmet is far superior to what any of the pictures here convey. It is very well made, of impressive weight, and completely lined with beautiful leather, even above the webbing and on the cheek plates. The horsehair roach crest is superb and the over all workmanship is impressive. The only improvement I might suggest would be a strengthening of the cheek plate attachment. A heavier pin and more solid hinging would help, but I may be overly critical. Don’t let this comment dissuade you from a purchase. I have admired and coveted Roman helms of this type since I saw Ben Hur as a young boy. I expected to be pleased when my purchase arrived, but didn’t expect to be as impressed as I am. I have a Greek Corinthian Helm, a Crusader Great Helm, a Late Norman Helm, and a Visored Barbuta Helm. They are all impressive and well made but this one is by far the finest in my collection.

Very nice helmet. It would have been nice if was a bit smaller, I think it’s 25 inches circumference inside and my head is shy of 23 inches. If fits okay but if shake my head it slops around. Needs to be tied under the chin. And it’s heavy on the head. Not super heavy but noticeable. You can definitely wear it. Very nice. Looks really impressive while wearing it. And the thing could probably take a beating and come out unscathed. I’m surprised how well it covers the head and neck. Good visibility and hearing. 1 pound lighter using 20 gauge would have been an improvement. Happy I bought it.
