This wicked looking mace has a spiked head which is cast from brass and mounted onto a robust haft of ash wood. A wooden wedge driven into the socket gives it a tight fit which was further reinforced with glue.

A surprisingly swift-striking design, this mace hits with velocity and its multi-pronged head of pyramidal spikes ensure concentrated force is driven into a target regardless from which direction the blow falls. Maces such as these were used by the Byzantine Empire in the 13th – 15th centuries and the design was known as far afield as Scandinavia as well.
