Overview

German Longsword with Twisted Wood Grip - Deepeeka

This complex hilted longsword opens up an array of offensive and defensive techniques for a skilled user to exploit that is not available with simpler crossguard forms. The long quillons and rings also serve to give excellent protection to the hands and forearms. The blade of this example is forged from high carbon steel and it is securely mounted into a hilt with a blued steel crossguard and pommel. The long grip is made from carved wood was polished smooth before finishing with a wood stain.

The sword comes with a companion scabbard of wood which is tightly wrapped in leather. A chape and locket of blued steel complete the scabbard.

    Pros:
I’ve had no problems with looseness in the crossguard after a few months, and the sword (at least the one I got) is beautiful. The scabbard is tight to the point I can hold the sword upside down and shake it lightly without it falling out.

    Cons:
IT DID NOT HAVE AN EDGE WHATSOEVER!!! THE “EDGE” WAS LITTERALLY FLAT! Unless you pay for the sharpening service, which is clearly worth it with this sword, you will have to take a file to the blade in order to have any hopes of sharpening it. The sword is pretty heavy weighing in at 4 lbs for a sword size that is usually 2 lbs-3 lbs, and it is a bit more difficult to have good edge allignement with the round grip, beautiful as it is.

    In conclusion:
This sword was $150 at time of purchase, and for the price it was worth it. Pay the extra $20 for the sharpening service or it will take weeks or even months of consistent filing to put an edge on it, and it’s a bit unweildly, but it is very nice looking in my opinion.

The positives of this sword are amazing it is beautiful from its pummel to the tip. The hand guard is amazing to look at and the handle itself is astonishing.

But there are some cons the hand guard when in use cracked not so that it was broken but still weekend the handle although beautiful dose slip around in the hand quite a bit and the most glaring issue is that the blade itself came loose and the tang would twist around loose in the handle I had to use epoxy resin to fix it. And it has no edge!! So the sharpening is a must buy

Overall though it looks amazing on a shelf in use it will need some modification to reach its full potential

I’ve had this sword for about a year, and it has given me no problems whatsoever. The Blade did come unsharpened, but after about half an hour on the whetstone, it was razor sharp, and kept its edge ever since

As this is my first sword, I am not super knowledgeable when it comes to critiquing swords, but I will say that everything seems very solid and well made, very little to no wobbling from any parts, the blade came well oiled and I love the weight. I got mine unsharpened so I can’t say much about sharpness, although I think any sword fresh out of the box would be due for some sharpening anyways! Either way, love the sword, and would recommend if you are just getting into swords, or just want one to have one!

Overall good quality got the sharpening service because everyone said it was a must on this sword turned out good, did not come with the mentioned scabbard but overall a good purchase.

Pommel and guard made beautifully. Grip feels nice and is marvellous. Blade is not sharp but I also didn’t buy it for it to be sharp no imperfections that I can see. Just pristine my new favourite thing I own
