This classically styled Bollock Dagger is based on historical examples found with the wreck of the 16th century Tudor warship Mary Rose. These bollock daggers were utilitarian in form but quality-crafted to be a reliable sidearm for the English soldiers who paid for them. This example has a large blade with a thick and stout blade spine to give it great durability and rigidity. The wedge-shaped cross section slopes to a single edge to give it capable cutting ability in addition to its excellent ability at puncturing through thick cloth and the weaker points of an armored defense. The handle is hexagonal in form for a sure grip and the carved bollocks of the grip serve as brace for the thumb for better control and stability.

The blade of this replica is made from EN45 spring steel. The grip is well-carved from wood and the guard plate is fashioned from brass. The blade is anchored into the hilt with a nut and peen over the pommel. Included is a double-layered sheath of high quality vegetable-tanned leather which is embellished with stamped design and finished with a brass chape and two leather cords for tying onto your belt.

Would have been five stars but there is an issue. This is my first purchase from kult of Athena and I was VERY excited to get my first real dagger. This isn’t a budget dagger either, It’s 200 dollars after tax with the sharpening fee. So I was sad when I noticed on arrival that the handle isn’t fully secured to the tang and has a small wiggle from left to right, that also makes crunching noises when I put pressure downward on the side of the handle. From what I understand this means the wood core isn’t properly fitted to the metal. Which Im quite disappointed with after I waited nearly two weeks for the thing to arrive. Which I was originally fine with since there is a heavily advertised “quality over speed” rule they apparently follow. With all of that said. The sharpening, integrity of the blade itself, and point of the blade is absolutely perfect. The sheath is also good quality. Real leather, real brass tip. I just wish my handle was properly secured…. I’d love to get it fixed if I could somehow
