The Vanguard Hand and a Half Sword - Romance of Men
The Vanguard from Romance of Men brings a wide, cut-focused blade in a bastard sword sized package for an altogether attractively priced budget mat cutter for the beginner or the experienced collector looking to efficiently expand the range of options at hand when its time for a cutting session. The sharp-edged blade is forged from high carbon steel with a final near-mirror polish. Clocking in at about 3 lbs with a point of balance at around 3 1/2 inches the sword is responsive and handles well with two-handed use. Each side of the blade has a long and wide fuller flanked by twin thin fullers for weight reduction and balance redistribution.
The cast guard and pommel are practical satin-polished stainless steel and the 6 3/4 inch wood grip is overlaid with stitch-finished genuine leather. A peen of the tang over the pommel securely mounts the sword into its hilt. Matching the sword is a wooden scabbard with a matching leather wrap and metal chape. A sword belt of faux leather is included which can be adjusted to size. The sword hangers on the scabbard are of faux leather.
