APOC Survival Longsword
The APOC Survival Longsword is a modernized re-imaging of the Medieval longsword which melds the traditional deadliness and handling properties of this swift two-handed sword with all the benefits that modern materials technology can bring. The blade is well-tempered 9260 high carbon steel with a practical black-coated finish. The blade has a thick ricasso at the base of the blade to give it substantial durability and the blade has the necessary rigidity to ensure that it can both thrust and cut with great ability. To ensure that the blade is as durable as possible it features a full-tang construction with the hilt and blade being composed of a single piece of steel. To complete the sword with a comfortable grip it has two scales of milled G10 fiberglass laminate which are durably secured to the tang for an altogether robust construction. A pre-drilled hole at the end of the blade tang allows for the attachment of your own lanyard.
The sword is matched with a black-coated scabbard which is crafted from lightweight fiberlass and completed with a Molle compatible mount for ease in attaching this modern sword to your gear. The mouth of the scabbard is molded with a half-spherical attachment which neatly fits into the divot on both sides of the sword hilt to grip the sword for a relatively tight fitting between the sword and scabbard.

Very nice sword in the APOC line (I have 4 now). It is hefty, but very well balanced – providing the dexterity for a quick recovery while still having the weight to do significant damage. Balance is about 3 inches forward of the hilt. Steel is well tempered and sharpens well. Insider trick – the Rada sharpeners work very well with this steel, and a quick stropping on leather makes the edge scary sharp.
I have bought 2 of these. 1 for my friend and one for myself. I am a huge fan. I did a write up on FB (search apoc survival tools armory club) for how to add some hardware on the pommel thru the 3/8″ hole that adds some nice balance making it feel significantly less chunky. By my estimate it holds up wonderfully when compared to my Hanwei Tinker Longsword.

Good sword, but the cap at the end of the sheath wasn’t glued properly, and keeps coming off when you put the sword back in the sheath. So good sword and an ok sheath
This is a fantastic sword, the only issue possible is the cap of the scabbard, but if you don’t slam the sword in it’s fine. Might put two reviews to balance out the actual libel coming Herb, the “expert”

Listen, if you want perfection, drop $1200 and buy a show piece. If you want something that your children’s children will be able to beat the crap out of while still being reliable, buy this. It’s worth more than I payed for it and it exceeded my expectations.
Well tempered and I am pleased with the flex test I put this blade through but do go for KoA’s sharpening service as this edge was barely defined from the factory. Lots of features beg for modification or ergonomic improvement. It’s a hardy piece of steel with a scabbard for less than $200. Good luck finding all of this under the same price line with other makers. I will say my only complaint is with the scabbard as the blade seem slightly too long and has pushed the end cap and rubber buffer out of the end. Nothing a little glue can’t fix. 4.7
Been very excited since ordering this sword, originally was going to buy the guardian, but after seeing this blade knew it’d suit me better. looks gokd and swings well, handle length requires wider grip spacing for some joined swings, or good foot work, handle could use better texture as it’s smooth ish. oiled well and came sharp enough to use but not razor honed sharp.
I made a 550cord belt for the scabbard as one is not offered with it.
scabbard fitment is good to decent, no big complaints really. the end cap issue has been solved.
only real gripe, maybe, would be a wider cross guard or more parallel to stop hand sliding forward in serious thrusts.
overall, for the price, yes I’d buy another one.
Guns run out of ammo, but almost any rock can sharpen metal.
Herb is just awful
Love it! I am really digging Angus Trim’s APOC line. Got several of them now. I’m more into modern usage and utility than historical collecting. This can be wielded one hand or two. It has great balance, a nice utilitarian grip and is good for cutting and thrusting. I re-profiled the edge to remove most of the secondary bevel and this thing is a great cutter. I’ve abused it a bit, cutting weeds and trimming branches and it still slices right through water bottles. Really love these swords. I don’t think you can beat them for the price if modern, practical usage is what you’re going for. Needless to say, I think at this point this is my go-to sword for SHTF situations. Either this or one of the other APOC swords like the Tactical Wasteland Gladis or the Broadsword. Situation dependent. Add to the list his Jian, which I just also ordered. Love these!
The sword itself is fantastic and handles really nicely, the spring tempering seems to be good. Now for the problems: The sword came with some rusting on the handle and towards the end of the tang which can be resolved easily but it’s not something that should happen for a product that’s being sold as new, and also the scabbard itself is straight up bad for the sword, just drawing the sword out makes the scabbard scratch the blade which scrapes off the black coating…
Bought mine elsewhere, aggregating reviews to see what opinions people hold. Largely agree with all positive sentiments. Will purchase more. But like….I need to see the herb review. It’s gone now, but I think I might die of i don’t see it.
I am no sword expert by any means, I have experience in safety, proper edge alignment, and basic techniques. With that said, I ordered and received this sword not too long ago. It feels great in the hand, the balance feels good, and the springiness of the blade feels good to me (first long sword that is not a trainer). I chose the standard grade option with no additional sharpening, and the blade arrived sharper than many other knives and blades I have seen out of the box. The scabbard is just as advertised, nothing particularly fancy or crazy, it securely holds the sword and protects the blade. I was also quite happy with the packaging it was shipped in, a generously sized box packed with packing paper that held the sword in place and prevented damage during shipping (much better packaging than I was expecting).
While I am very happy with the feel and overall design, especially for the price, I have to rate it at 3/5 stars as the blade near the tip is bent enough that after I unsheathed the blade and held it at arms-length to see how straight the blade was, I immediately noticed it. I proceeded to rest the blade on my table to confirm it was not an optical illusion, and the blade was propped up by the tip while resting on one of the flat sides, and on the other flat side the tip was pointed noticeably upward. While this should not be an issue for me, I would not perform a thrust into an object that would have fair resistance, and I believe this is something that a lot of people would be concerned about if they received one and noticed that on theirs.
Came cleanly and nicely. Well packed. When I opened it up, and checked the straight edge, mine was perfectly good. Thrust went through very well. Sharpened edge wasn’t able to cut well, but honestly, sharpening a little more would fix it. No issues with the scabbard. Unsheathed well, and no issues. Only real issue is the edge. Very happy for the price!
Amazing sword for the price. On the heavier side, but the balance is good enough for that to not even matter. Even with only the factory edge it cuts really well. Handle is comfortable to hold and the pommel is fun to strike with. It’s the first sword I’ve bought and if I had the money I would definitely buy a few more
