This half-sleeve haubergeon is crafted from aluminum, making this coat of mail substantially lighter and more comfortable to than standard, heavier mail; a mail shirt of aluminum will weigh almost half as much as a standard shirt of steel mail!
The cost is durability - aluminum chain mail is not a good choice for contact fighting reenactment or sport, but it is a good choice for costume, the renaissance faire, role-playing or non-contact fighting reenactment - it will be much easier on the shoulders and body after hours of wear than standard mail.
The rings are dome riveted round rings alternated with solid flat rings.

Be Sure to Wash this Shirt Before Use!!! Since this is not anodized alumimum, it will leave grey residue on clothing and skin. Other than this drawback, Kult of Athena has the best price I was able to find on aluminum mail. The weight difference between my steel mail shirt and this aluminum shirt is substantial and your body will thank you for it.
Comfortable and sturdy yet so lightweight I’ve had this Chain for 3 years now and it’s lightweight, sturdy and really comfy. I’ve never lost a ring and thats with at least one weekend per month use in a heavy combat LARP system. I’ve worn this all day (and even slept in it overnight) and it’s soo much better than any other chain i’ve worn before, barely felt it in my shoulders at all.
Just be aware that it will leave grey marks on any kit under/over it unless you clean it first due to it not beign anodized but the marks will wash out in even a light wash.
If I somehow ever need another suit of chain i’d buy another one of these without hesitation.
I bought the DANA Aluminum Half-Sleeve Haubergeon – Dome Riveted Round Rings and Alternating Flat Rings. My first thing of chainmail armor ever and I am very impressed with the sturdiness and the craftsmanship. I got the medium chess fit of 44 in and it fits beautifully atop my gambitson. Currently 6 ft and a inch and the shirt comes to just short of mid thigh and just past my elbow. Definitely a good thing of chainmail. Would highly recommend to any individual
