Overview
Krieger Historical Weapons - HEMA Krieger Saber S6
This beautifully balanced and refined example of the Victorian Gymnasium Saber is made by Krieger Historical Weapons of Poland and it is a refinement over earlier models with a number of small and nuanced - but important changes that elevate the saber and the experience for the duelist. Great care was taken to achieve a lively balance at about 5" on the saber with proper fullering and this results in a saber that points with ease and one that excels in the parry and strike. In the hand it feels like a natural extension of the arm and not taxing or weighty on the wrist or arm with a total weight well under 2 lbs. Great for a beginner or the experienced duelist who wants a finely balanced example of the Gymnasium saber.Â
Crafted from 50 HF steel and tempered to a 48-50 HRc hardness, the 33" blade has a rolled tip for safety and its flex measures at 8 kg when measured using the scale method. Its ergonomic synthetic grip is purpose built for durability and sustaining long term wear and it is textured in a sharkskin pattern that to give an impressive tactile grip to the piece. In classic fashion for sabers of the time it has a flat shelf behind the guard for a natural placement for the thumb for increased control. A peen over the pommel solidly secures the blade and hilt assembly together.

The Maker
Krieger Historical Weapons
Krieger Historical Weapons was founded in Poland by a group of archeology enthusiasts and historical fencers. Their historical knowledge has allowed them to produce replicas of ancient weapons with a very high level of historical reliability. With an ever growing reputation for quality and reliability, the swords of Krieger Historical Weapons continue to impress beginning and experienced HEMA practitioners alike.Â
In recent years Krieger has focused on meeting the specific needs of the Historical Martial Arts community, which is looking for weapons that are both historically accurate and capable of withstanding intense combat while reducing blade wear and the risk of injury. Equally important are the recipients of historical replicas, for whom we take care of every detail, trying to provide the widest offer tailored to every taste.
Krieger has developed real technological innovations that take advantage of modern material improvements, such as an indestructible synthetic grip or unique blade processing, which make their weapons exceptionally resistant to time and very pleasant to use. Aesthetics and design are equally important, which is why they ensure that each product is of the highest standard.
