Musashi – Sarugami Monkey Spirit Katana

Its clay-tempered 1060 high carbon steel blade is paired with finely crafted antiqued brass fittings and genuine rayskin accents. Forged from durable 1060 steel, the nearly 29 inch blade provides an excellent balance of toughness, shock absorption, and edge retention. The differential heat treatment produces a visible hamon while preserving flexibility through the spine for added resilience during cutting practice. Weighing comfortably under 3 pounds and balanced roughly 4.5 inches ahead of the guard, the Sarugami Katana feels agile in the hands while retaining enough blade presence to power through cuts effectively. Its bo-hi groove reduces excess weight and improves handling speed, while the 9.5 inch tsuka offers solid leverage and control for two-handed techniques.

Unlike many budget-friendly katana that rely on brittle zinc alloy fittings, the Sarugami Katana features durable antiqued brass for the tsuba, fuchi, and kashira. Genuine rayskin panels beneath the tightly wrapped black ito preserve the traditional character of the mountings while providing a secure grip.
