Pompeii Gladius - Deepeeka
This Roman Pompeii Gladius has a blade forged from high carbon steel; the pommel and guard are crafted from wood and the grip is of carved bone. The sword tang is secured against the pommel with a brass pommel nut and the guard is protected with a brass guard-plate which is inlaid into the wood of the guard. On top of this is a felt tab which cushions the hilt from contact with the scabbard - it can be easily removed if desired.
The scabbard is crafted to to have a body of wood which is overlaid in leather and bound in extensive brass and steel fittings and brass hanging rings - all of which are based on original finds of surviving scabbard fittings. The iconographic plates are fitted to a single side.

The sword is great! Everything is tight and the grip is super comfortable. Steel seems good. I haven’t sharpened it yet so have not done any cut test. The Sheath could be nicer. Mine had a few nicks on it and some of the decorations were faded. The sheath is why I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars.
