Rotella Buckler – 16 Gauge Steel – Lord of Battles

This Buckler with its concave surfaces and slashed rim has the stylings of the larger Renaissance Rotella shield in a size more fitting of a buckler. The shield is forged from 16 gauge steel with a blackened finish.

The central bar grip is steel and it is stoutly riveted onto the shield back - it is completed with two pinned halves of wood to round out the grip for a more usable grip that better fits the palm.

Though small, the buckler is a quick and active defensive shield with offensive capabilities in the hands of the skilled duelist. When held at arms length it cuts off more angles of attack than its small size would suggest. Durably built and quick on the strike, a punch with the boss or rim of a buckler can be quite effective when the opportunity presents itself. The small size of the buckler allows it to be carried and transported with far greater ease than most shields, which makes it a useful sidearm for travelers and duelists. Men-at-Arms who use polearms and missile weapons that preclude the use of a large shields will find the combination of a arming sword and buckler to be very useful in a quick-moving melee.
