This reproduction of the British 1897 Infantry Officer’s Sword is paired with a robust British military style “Sam Browne” Sword harness. The blade is forged from tempered 1055 high carbon steel and is lavishly embellished on both sides with etched filigree and royal military design. The hilt is crafted from steel and the grip is wood with a tight binding of faux rayskin which is overlaid with beautifully braided steel wire. An included leather sword knot can be fitted to the guard. The included sword belt is well constructed from thick leather with finely stitched construction and brass hardware.

The 1897 British Infantry Officer’s Sword is still the current regulation issue sword of the British military and the sword has a long history of service from the late 19th century colonial conflicts and right throught the world wars. The sword is worn and well supported with the Sam Browne style belt which was invented by Major Sam Browne who lost his arm during conflict in India. He created a new belt system that allowed him to mount and dismount and draw his sword with ease and his revolutionary design was found to be a universal improvement over earlier belts and was widely adopted throughout the Commonwealth military after.
