Viking Fenrir Wolf Shield - Deepeeka
This Viking Shield is handpainted in Norse knotwork to feature the great wolf Fenrir with his name emblazoned in Viking runes beneath the shield boss. The shield is crafted from stout 1/2" thick (13 mm) plywood and has a steel shield boss of 18 gauge steel. The shield is backed and rimmed in painted canvas to strengthen and support it and the grip is crafted from wood and quadruple-screwed into position. The shield is an excellent display piece, as well as a shield ready for raid and battle.
Fenrir, one of three world tormentors alongside Hel and Jörmungandr, is born of Loki and Angrboda. This monstrous wolf defies order, embodying world-ending chaos. The gods bind him to a rock, sinking him deep into the earth, with war god Tyr losing a hand to make it happen. Fenrir stays chained for ages but eventually breaks free, swallowing Odin whole. Odin's son Widar slays the beast, but too late—Odin falls, and the world's order crumbles.
