This Hungarian 1827 Officers Saber has a blade forged from 1055 high carbon steel and etched on both sides of the blade with period Neoclassical iconography. The hilt is steel and the wooden grip is bound in black leather. Unique to this saber is the modifiable hilt – the mechanism on the guard allows for the articulated second bar to move from a position that is flush with the main knuckle bow to a position that is nearly 90 degrees perpendicular. This rare modifiable hilt allows for the sword to be worn comfortably and unobtrusively when at rest, but when the time comes for action a simple pull on the bar and a spring lock on the guard greatly enhance the protection offered by the hilt.

The scabbard is all-steel and completed with steel hanging rings.
