These robust brigandine gauntlets are built for HMB (Historical Medieval Battles) sport combat. Articulated and ready for use these brigandine gauntlets have 0.8 mm tempered spring steel plates sturdily riveted within an all-encompassing outer layer of quality suede leather with stitched, hand-sewn edging. Additional padding on the inside of the gauntlet beneath the steel plates offers substantial cushioning for the hand from impactful strikes.
These gauntlets are based on an example found at the 1361 Visby excavation site and are ideal for representing the hand protection of the 13th century knight or man-at-arms. The illustration on this page depicts the brigandine gauntlet from Visby that was the inspiration for these gauntlets.
