Polish Army Officer's Saber Pattern 1921/22 - Universal Swords
The 1921 / 1922 Pattern Polish Military Officer's Saber was the primary interwar military sword for the Polish military. This careful reproduction by Universal Swords recreates the details and even the manufacturer and armory markings of an original example. The tempered blade is forged from 1060-1065 High Carbon Steel and bears the reproduced stamped signature of the manufacturer A. MANN, WARSZAWA, AMA. The back of the blade has the stamp of the munitions inspector, the national eagle and production No. 1152. The hilt is finely cast from polished brass and the wooden grip is bound in black leather and bound in braided brass. The sword has a scabbard of steel with steel hanging rings and the scabbard also bears the matching stamped production markings to match the blade.
On May 5, 1923, the Third Department of Artillery and Armament of the Ministry of Military Affairs concluded a contract with the Alfons Mann company for the supply of 2,500 officer sabers pattern. 1921/22. These sabers (most likely 3,000 pieces, numbered from 001 to 3,000), apart from the numbering, were marked with the receiving inspector's punch and the state emblem. The sabers were sent to arms depots in Lviv, Poznań, Toruń, Lublin, Kraków, Łódź and Warsaw, leaving the surplus in the Central Weapons Depot in the Warsaw Citadel
