Roman Cornu Horn - Deepeeka
This Roman Cornu is crafted from brass and fitted with a central bar of wood. The horn ships disassembled to ease of shipping and transport. The brass components are threaded to allow for ease of assembly.
The large Roman Cornu horn was often used by the legions as a signal instrument. Its shape and central bar allow for most of the weight to rest on the shoulder - ideal for a legionary musician on the march or when advancing in battle. The instrument was also heard during gladiatorial events and may have also had a use in religious ceremonies and festivals.
