Roman Tekije Cingulum with Tassets - Deepeeka
This Roman Balteus (Cingulum) is crafted from a band of thick, wide, red leather fitted with riveted metal plates. The belt is adjustable with its thin, adjustable band and a metal buckle. The belt has four individual tasset bands with integrated belt loops that can be put on the belt to create its sporran tasset front - they could also be removed if desired. These tasset bands are fitted with an array of studded steel medallions.
The Balteus has two disc-like medallions that can be used to hang or tie a Pugio dagger to the belt - a cord of leather is wrapped around the belt and can be untied to be used for this purpose. The interior of the belt is lined with a layer of brown suede leather to ensure that the plate rivets do not damage your tunic.
This Cingulum is based on a Roman belt found in the Tekjie hoard in Serbia. In the time of the Roman Empire the location of the hoard would have been the province of Pannonia.
Please Note: This belt now comes in varying shades of brown and no longer is in red. The color varies from a very light brown to a very dark brown.
