Overview

Thaitsuki Kumori Katana

The Thaitsuki Kumori Katana is specially handmade and forged in the Yamato Nihonto tradition, which is considered to be the oldest tradition in Japanese sword making. This forging method and the premium quality, high carbon Japanese steel makes for an extremely sharp, durable and flexible blade.
The Kumori Katana features a genuine same tsuka, Japanese golden brown silk Tsuka Ito and 32.5% hand made silver Koshirae. The Kumori Japanese Katana can be completely disassembled for full maintenance. The blade is high carbon steel with an Edge Hardness= 60-63 HRC Body Hardness=30-33 HRC. The included saya has a black finish and Buffalo Horn Koiguchi.

The Thaitsuki Japanese Samurai Katana Series keep true to the samurai code, ''To strive for perfection''. All Katana produced by the family run Thaitsuki Forge are handmade with the highest standards and attention to detail. All of their sword craftsmen and artisans have served for years in apprenticeship under the master sword smith, Mr. Sivarat. Each katana is made following the same traditional methods that the family run Thaitsuki Forge has been using for over 200 Years.
From the perfectly wrapped Ito, to the handmade Kashira, Menuki, Tsuba and Fuchi, each piece is made from skilled craftsmen that specialize and take pride in their art. The Habaki, Menuki, Fuchi and Kashira are handmade from quality silver. The Tsuka is skillfully wrapped in leather or silk and only genuine Ray skin is used. The Saya is crafted from hard wood then carefully lacquered and the Koiguchi is made from genuine black horn. The blade is hand forged from only the best High Carbon - Japanese Steel and perfectly balanced.
Each Japanese Katana comes with it's own individual serial number and certificate from Thaitsuki Nihonto so you can trace it back to when and by whom it was made. Each katana is handmade and the fittings are handcrafted so no katana will be ever be exactly alike. Each katana is it's own, one of a kind, work of art.

PLEASE NOTE: There may be some minor to moderate cosmetic blemishing present on the scabbard and minor blemishing on the blade. These are handcrafted and hand-finished so minor cosmetic imperfections may be present.

Blade is excellent. Fit and finish are decent, though the ito could stand to be tighter.

The Maker

Thaitsuki Nihonto

It all began over 400 years ago with a commanding officer stationed in Thailand, who passed on sword making traditions to the Sivarat family. Today Thaitsuki Swords, owned by the Sivarat family, is recognized across the world for their superior heirloom quality. Each sword is individually produced by highly trained smiths, marked with a serial numbered and packaged with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Thaitsuki Nihonto specializes in melding blades of excellent quality with distinguished and elevated koshirae hilt fittings and a premium saya scabbard. Where other brands will cut corners on the finer points of fit and finish of koshirae and blade polish, Thaitsuki Nihonto follows through to create an exquisitely well crafted sword which has had the attention of a skilled craftsman hand-finishing each step to ensure an excellent fit and finish throughout. From Thaitsuki you can expect to see blades of skillfully forged steel, a superb blade polish, components of higher quality metals, a well-knotted grip wrap, finely lacquered scabbard, high quality samegawa rayskin, and close attention paid to details such as a tight and flush fit between the scabbard opening and its encased koiguchi.
