This summer, Kult Of Athena worked with Windlass Steelcrafts of India to re-release five classics that you have been asking about for years!

These discontinued favorites were chosen because of your feedback, their strong character, and their standing as excellent performers and cutters in Windlass’s lineup of historical swords and weapons. Many of these have been unavailable in North America for a long time – and we are excited to help bring them back to the community. Based on early demand, we will continue to replenish these items for the next 6-9 months.

The Collection:

The Sword of Roven is a classically styled late Medieval Warsword and would look right at home in the gauntleted hands of knight, mercenary or professional warrior in the later years of The Hundred Years War. The longsword is authoritative on the cut and has a capable and “sure” feeling when wielded. Its grip and fish-tail pommel give plenty of leverage for the hands without being overly long and the ricasso above the guard not only makes a robust base for the blade, but also serves excellently as a grip-point for some half-swording technique. See this sword in action.

Sword of Roven

The Shamshir Scimitar is as quick and responsive as you would hope for from this classic Persian sword design. The scimitar’s slim grip is surprisingly comfortable in the hand and the sweeping curve of the blade lends itself to deep and decisive cuts with ease when in capable hands. A skilled warrior can also make use of the curved tip to connect a thrust to a target from unpredictable angles that are difficult to counter! See this sword in action here.

The Sword of Homildon Hill is a responsive longsword. The antiqued hilt with a bronzed finish and the blade’s etched Latin inscription create a style reminiscent of the finest swords borne by Medieval royalty; not merely weapons, but a “sculptured” works of art. Be not beguiled by its regal appearance for this sword has long been a favorite in the collector community for those who wanted an agile longsword that could cut and slice with great ability.

The Diavolo Main Gauche is a large-bladed duellist’s dagger; the type that was expressly designed to entangle and counter a larger weapon which made it a fine companion for self-defense and for duels. It’s namesake “Devil Horns” quillons can with a deft twist of the hand entrap and befoul the opponent’s blade, leaving them wide open to the counter strike! The dagger is quite attractive on its own with its Renaissance stylings. See this devilish dagger in action.

Of all these offerings, the Erbach Sword has been unavailable for the longest time. Based on a historical late Medieval German original, its large blade coupled with a twisted pommel and quillon are full of Late Medieval Gothic German character.  A German Gothic Knight or Mercenary captain would bear this powerful warsword into battle. This is a hard-hitting sword that cuts and slices deeply and authoritatively. A sword such as this is clearly a weapon for a professional warrior and its mere appearance marks the warrior who bears it as one of ability and earned status.

The re-issue of the Erbach sword takes advantage of Windlass’s improved tempering process as well as many more years of crafting experience so this re-issued model is of higher quality than the original production from years ago.

All these Windlass favorites are available only at Kult Of Athena.
