17th Century Pappenheimer Rapier – Deepeeka

This Rapier pairs the Pappenheim-style hilt with the wider, transitional rapier blade that is suitable for both cutting and thrusting. The blade is forged from high carbon steel and the complex hilt is mild steel. The shell guard is backed with red velvet and the wooden grip is tightly bound in twisted steel wire. A felt tab atop the guard protects it from contact with the scabbard.

The companion scabbard is crafted from wood and overlaid in black leather. The protective chape and locket are of steel.

Swept Basket Hilt Rapier – Deepeeka

This Swept Basket Hilt Rapier has a blade forged from high carbon steel which is mounted into a complex hilt which is crafted from nickel-plated brass for a brilliant and shining finish. The wooden grip has been thoroughly overlaid with a steel wire binding. Included with the sword is a companion scabbard of robust leather coupled with a steel locket and chape.

This rapier shows the evolution of the swept hilt rapier beginning to coalesce into a more enclosed, basket-like form – a form which would be used for a number of later swords with hilts that were significantly more enclosed than the simpler hilt forms the the medieval and early Renaissance. Such additional protection was needed as these weapons were primarily for civilian self-defense and much of the civilian swordsmanship of the time favored thrusting rapier swords with techniques which allowed a fighter to strike a blow from a significant distance.

Spanish Swept Hilt Rapier – Deepeeka

This classically styled Swept-Hilt Rapier provides ample protection to an unarmored hand without adding too much weight to the hilt. An attractive sidearm for self defense in a Renaissance city this rapier has a tempered blade which is forged from high carbon steel. The elaborately formed guard and pommel are crafted from stainless steel and the wooden grip is tightly bound in braided steel wire.

Included with the sword is a durable scabbard of thick, stitched leather with a steel chape and locket.

Fabri Armorum – Pappenheim Parrying Dagger

This robustly crafted parrying dagger from Fabri Armorum makes a fine companion piece for the rapier-wielding duelist and is built to stand up to the hard impacts you can expect to receive from a larger sword. The blade is tough 54SiCr6 High Carbon Steel at 15 inches in length and it has a widened spatulate style tip for safety and durability. The elaborate piercework guard is made from antique-finished steel and a supple, spiral-wrapped leather grip over the 4.25 inch handle completes the sword. There is enough room for a gloved or armored hand to grip the dagger and the tang and pommel are welded together for a very strong overall construction built for hard-hitting sport, reenactment or stage combat.
